{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198b.510","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198B.510","heading":"Certificates of operation -- Renewal -- Elevator or fixed guideway system","body":"installations -- Certification of compliance -- State inspectors.\n(1) No certificate of operation for any passenger elevator or fixed guideway system\nshall be issued until th e elevator or fixed guideway system has been inspected and\nthe inspection report filed with the department. The certificate of operation, when\nissued, shall bear the date of inspection, and shall be renewed as of the date of the\nsubsequent inspection, provided the inspection is made at least one (1) year after the\nissuance of this certificate. If the inspection is made during the year the certificate is\nin force, the renewal date shall be one (1) year from the date of the certificate being\nrenewed and the renewal certificate shall show the date of inspection.\n(2) All new elevator or fixed guideway system installations shall be performed by a\nlicensed elevator contractor. Subsequent to installation, the elevator contractor shall\ncertify compliance with the applicable sections of KRS 198B.400 to 198B.540. The\nlicensed elevator contractor shall complete and submit the initial registration for\neach new installation.\n(3) (a) A state inspector shall inspect, in accordance with KRS 198B.400 to\n198B.540, all newly in stalled elevators, platform lifts, and stairway chairlifts\nin private residences.\n(b) A state inspector may inspect, in accordance with KRS 198B.400 to\n198B.540, any existing installed elevators, platform lifts, and stairway\nchairlifts in private residence s at the request of the owner of the private\nresidence.","path":["KRS Chapter 198B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=36618","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:52Z","sha256":"2fb337a048474cdb455e604a2a7858e9078059bfc9e7ad1198d8e57718a3f0fd","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198b.500","next":"us-ky/krs-198b.520"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
