{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198b.560","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198B.560","heading":"Fire protection sprinkler contractor's license or certificate required --","body":"Exemptions.\n(1) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, no person other than a\ncertificate holder or an employee of a certificate holder shall engage in the\npreparation of technical drawings, installation, repair, alteration, extension,\nmaintenance or inspection of a fire protection sprinkler system or use any title, sign,\ncard or device indicating, or intending to indicate, or represent in any manner that\nhe is a certified fire protection sprinkler contractor without first obtaining the fire\nprotection sprinkler contractor's license or certificate under the provisions of KRS\n198B.570 or 198B.580; it being the purpose of KRS 198B.550 to 198B.630 to\nsafeguard life, health, property, and welfare of the public.\n(2) KRS 198B.550 to 198B.630 shall not apply to state or local building officials, fire\nmarshals, fire inspectors, or insurance inspectors when acting in their official\ncapacities.\n(3) This chapter shall not ap ply to professional engineers in the preparation of plans or\nconstruction inspection pursuant to KRS Chapter 322.\n(4) This chapter shall not apply to limited area sprinkler systems served by a domestic\nwater supply consisting of ten (10) sprinkler heads or less in one (1) structure.","path":["KRS Chapter 198B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=41124","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:52Z","sha256":"0c2605ee9fed640cc23954308be5da8055030cf1c985a317f8a1d653103d7dce","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198b.555","next":"us-ky/krs-198b.565"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
