{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198b.565","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198B.565","heading":"Preparation of designs of system.","body":"(1) The design for any fire protection sprinkler system for buildings and structures\nshall be prepared by a licensed professional engineer or, if the licensed,\nprofessional engineer chooses not to prepare the design, a licensed fire\nprotection sprinkler contractor whose certificate holder is a certified engineering\ntechnician, NICET Level III or Level IV, may prepare the design.\n(2) When  a fire protection sprinkler system is designed by a professional engineer\nin accordance with subsection (1) of this section, the licensed fire protection\nsprinkler contractor shall submit to the professional engineer, for his approval,\ntechnical drawings and, when  required, hydraulic calculations for the\ninstallation of the fire protection sprinkler system. Such technical drawings,\nafter approved by the professional engineer, shall be submitted by the\nprofessional engineer to the department, the insurance authority having\njurisdiction, if any, and other authority when required by Kentucky law.\n(3) When  a fire protection sprinkler system is designed by a licensed fire\nprotection sprinkler contractor in accordance with subsection (1) of this section,\nthe licensed fire protection sprinkler contractor shall submit the design and\ndetailed plans to the department, the insurance authority having jurisdiction, if\nany, and other authority when required by Kentucky law.","path":["KRS Chapter 198B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46924","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:52Z","sha256":"6d52a7b8181d99c24258fbbdccad4cd172aea33b28f626435c1e8dd7dadf19b3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198b.560","next":"us-ky/krs-198b.570"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
