{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198b.6401","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198B.6401","heading":"Fire sprinkler inspection certification -- Eligibility requirements --","body":"Certification cards.\n(1) The department shall issue a fire sprinkler inspector certification to an applicant\nwho:\n(a) Is at least eighteen (18) years of age;\n(b) Submits  a completed fire sprinkler inspector's written or electronic\napplication form as provided by the department;\n(c) Provides a certificate of insurance that:\n1. a. Is issued by an insurance company  or other legal entity\npermitted to transact insurance business in Kentucky;\nb. Insures for general liability coverage of at least five hundred\nthousand dollars ($500,000); and\nc. Includes liability insurance that shall cover the legal liability of\nthe certified fire sprinkler inspector as the result of erroneous\nacts or failure to act in his or her capacity as a fire sprinkler\ninspector and shall be in the form of a certificate of insurance\nexecuted by an insurer permitted to do business in this state or\nexported by a licensed surplus lines broker to an eligible carrier\npursuant to KRS 304.10-020 to 304.10-210; or\n2. Submits an affidavit completed by a sprinkler contractor that the\napplicant is and will be an employee of a currently licensed sprinkler\ncontractor in good standing with the department;\n(d) 1. Provides proof of passing scores on all portions of a standardized\nexamination approved by the commissioner; or\n2. Holds  a  current certification from  the National Institute for\nCertification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) for \"Inspection\nand Testing of Water-Based Systems\" Level 2 or higher; and\n(e) Upon  request by the department, provides supplemental documentation\nof information as required under this subsection.\n(2) All certification cards issued by the department shall remain the property of the\ndepartment.","path":["KRS Chapter 198B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46933","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:52Z","sha256":"bb3642c2ff57be6caf5d8a5e197542473edbd8d7d12b16f98007586dc1d876d5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198b.630","next":"us-ky/krs-198b.6403"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
