{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198b.6407","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198B.6407","heading":"Reciprocity -- Terms and conditions.","body":"(1) The  certification requirements established within this chapter may be waived\nfor a person moving into the Commonwealth  from another jurisdiction, and a\nfire sprinkler inspector's certification granted, if:\n(a) The other jurisdiction grants the same privileges to certified fire sprinkler\ninspectors of Kentucky as Kentucky grants to certified or licensed fire\nsprinkler inspectors of that other jurisdiction;\n(b) The individual is certified or licensed in the other jurisdiction;\n(c) The  certification or licensing requirements of the other jurisdiction are\nsubstantially similar to the requirements in this chapter; and\n(d) The individual submits a notarized letter stating that he or she has read,\nis familiar with, and will abide by this chapter and the administrative\nregulations promulgated by the department.\n(2) An individual seeking a fire sprinkler inspector's certification under this section\nshall:\n(a) Submit  a  completed fire sprinkler inspector's written or electronic\napplication form as provided by the department; and\n(b) 1. Provide a certificate of insurance issued by an insurance company\nor other legal entity permitted to transact business in Kentucky with\na general liability coverage of at least five hundred thousand dollars\n($500,000). Liability insurance shall cover the legal liability of the\ncertified fire sprinkler inspector as the result of erroneous acts or\nfailure to act in his or her capacity as a fire sprinkler inspector and\nshall be in the form of a certificate of insurance executed by an\ninsurer permitted to do business in this state or exported by a\nlicensed surplus lines broker to an eligible carrier pursuant to KRS\n304.10-020 to 304.10-210; or\n2. Submit an affidavit from a sprinkler contractor that he or she is\ncovered as an employee of a sprinkler contractor that is in good\nstanding and currently licensed by the department.","path":["KRS Chapter 198B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46935","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:52Z","sha256":"8687e2e0163500b17711bb60b1f5823efaa6fa52e62bb28e689ef07ba0c83eda","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198b.6405","next":"us-ky/krs-198b.6409"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
