{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198b.712","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198B.712","heading":"License required -- Qualifications -- Application -- Insurance -- Fee.","body":"(1) An individual shall not advertise or claim to be a home inspector and shall not\nconduct a home inspection for compensation without first obtaining a license as\na home inspector.\n(2) An  individual shall not advertise as, claim to be, or engage in or work at the\ntrade of home  inspection unless an owner or employee of that business is a\nlicensed home inspector.\n(3) The board shall deny a license to any applicant who fails to:\n(a) Furnish evidence satisfactory to the board, showing that the individual:\n1. Is at least eighteen (18) years of age;\n2. Possesses  a high school diploma or a High School Equivalency\nDiploma; and\n3. Meets other criteria established by the board through promulgation\nof administrative regulations;\n(b) Verify the information submitted on the application form;\n(c) Complete a board-approved training program or course of study involving\nthe  performance of home  inspections, and  pass  an  examination\nprescribed or approved by the board;\n(d) Submit to the board a certificate of insurance that is acceptable to the\nboard and that:\n1. Is issued by an insurance company  or other legal entity authorized\nto transact insurance business in Kentucky;\n2. Provides for general liability coverage of at least two hundred fifty\nthousand dollars ($250,000);\n3. Lists the Kentucky Board of Home  Inspectors as the certificate\nholder of any insurance policy satisfying the requirements of this\nparagraph;\n4. States that cancellation and nonrenewal of the underlying policy is\nnot effective until the board receives at least ten (10) days' prior\nwritten notice of the cancellation or nonrenewal; and\n5.
