{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-198b.722","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 198B.722","heading":"Expiration of license -- Renewal -- Continuing education -- Inactive","body":"license.\n(1) The initial license for a home inspector issued in accordance with KRS 198B.700 to\n198B.738, shall expire on the last day of the licensee's birth month in the following\nyear. The board may reduce the license fee on a pro rata basis for initial licenses\nissued for less than twelve (12) months.\n(2) Renewed licenses shall expire on the last day of the licensee's birth month of each\neven numbered year after the date of issuance of the renewed license.\n(3) An individual who applies to renew a license as a licensed home inspector shall:\n(a) Furnish evidence showing successful completion of the continuing education\nrequirements of this section;\n(b) Pay the renewal fee and late fee, if applicable, established by the board;\n(c) Show proof of general liability insurance in the amount required by KRS\n198B.712(3)(d); and\n(d) Submit a recent background check performed by the Kentucky State Police.\n(4) Renewal notices shall be sent to e ach licensee at least sixty (60) days prior to the\nexpiration of the license. The notice shall inform the licensee of the need to renew\nand the requirement of payment of the renewal fee.\n(5) Renewal and applicable late fees shall be paid with a credit card , a draft, a money\norder, a cashier's check, a certified or other personal check, or, if payment is made\nin person, the payment may be made in cash. If the board receives an uncertified\npersonal check for the renewal fee and if the check does not clear the  bank, the\nboard may refuse to renew the license.\n(6) Each licensee shall complete the continuing education required by the board prior to\napplying for license renewal. This requirement shall not exceed thirty (30) hours per\ntwo (2) year license cycle.\n(7) The board may, through the promulgation of administrative regulations:\n(a) Establish an inactive license for licensees who are not actively engaging in the\nhome inspection business but wish to maintain their license;\n(b) Reduce license and renewal fees for inactive licenses; and\n(c) Waive the insurance requirements established in KRS 198B.712 for inactive\nlicenses.","path":["KRS Chapter 198B"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=39906","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:52Z","sha256":"40e58ea97dd40afe88ceec3004b494a465fd3a64bb43c9a944383bdba4e95df2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-198b.720","next":"us-ky/krs-198b.724"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
