{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-199.466","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 199.466","heading":"Background  check of child abuse and neglect records at request of","body":"parent or legal guardian employing individual to care for minor child.\n(1) A parent or legal guardian employing an individual to care for his or her minor\nchild may request the results of a background check of the child abuse and\nneglect records maintained by the cabinet from the individual by submitting the\nsame  form and paying the same  fee that would be submitted by an entity\nrequired by law to request such a background check on an employee or\nvolunteer for the purpose  of determining whether there has  been  a\nsubstantiated finding of child abuse or neglect for the child-care provider. The\nform shall contain the signature of the individual consenting to the background\ncheck.\n(2) The  cabinet shall notify the individual on whom  the background check was\ncompleted of the results.\n(a) If the results show no substantiated findings of child abuse or neglect on\nthe registry for the individual, the cabinet shall send the individual a letter\nstating that they have no findings of substantiated abuse or neglect.\n(b) If the results show substantiated findings of child abuse or neglect on the\nregistry for the individual, the cabinet shall send the individual the results\nof the search.\n(3) The cabinet shall make the form for requesting a background check of the child\nabuse and neglect records maintained by the cabinet available on its Web  site\nalong with information on how  to locate a child-care provider certified or\nlicensed by the cabinet and how to request a criminal background check for a\nchild-care provider.\n(4) The  cabinet shall promulgate administrative regulations to implement\nsubsection (1) of this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 199"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46514","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:53Z","sha256":"c8910ae54e3c4583d3170edcf552b0e6882f646ce515472f9b030285cdc2b4ae","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-199.465","next":"us-ky/krs-199.467"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
