{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-199.525","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 199.525","heading":"Dissemination of post -adoption information about medical or genetic","body":"condition affecting an adopted person.\n(1) If the cabinet receives written information from the biological parent or adult\nbiological sibling of an adopted person or a provider of medical services concerning\na physician-verified medical or genetic condition which has affected or may affect\nthe physical or mental health of genetically-related persons, the cabinet shall make a\ndiligent effort to notify the adoptive parent if the adopted person is a minor, the\nadult adopted person, or the adult adoptable person in order to transmit the health\ninformation. For the purposes of this section, \"adoptable person\" means a person for\nwhom the court has terminated the parental rights of both biolog ical parents but\nwho has not been adopted.\n(2) The cabinet shall submit the health information to the clerk of the Circuit Court\nwhich issued the adoption order, and the clerk shall place the health information in\nthe adoption case file.\n(3) If a child-placing agency or the court receives health information, it shall notify and\ntransmit the information to the cabinet.","path":["KRS Chapter 199"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=7184","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:54Z","sha256":"feb00cb99a7aa59738d6cb2231628663e93350774269662b52420f560edadf84","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-199.521","next":"us-ky/krs-199.530"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
