{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-199.5951","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 199.5951","heading":"Duty of cabinet with respect to interstate compacts.","body":"(1) The Cabinet for Health and Family Services is authorized to develop, participate in\nthe development of, negotiate and enter into one (1) or more interstate compacts on\nbehalf of this state with other states to implement one (1) or more of the purposes\nset forth in KRS 199.595 to 199.5955. When so entered into, and for so long as it\nshall remain in force, such a compact shall have the force and effect of law.\n(2) For the purposes of KRS 199.595 to 199.5955, the term \"state\" shall mean a state of\nthe United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the\nVirgin Islands, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, or a\nterritory or possession of or administered by the United States.\n(3) For the purposes of KRS 199.595 to 199.5 955, the term \"adoption assistance state\"\nmeans the state that is signatory to an adoption assistance agreement in a particular\ncase.\n(4) For the purposes of KRS 199.595 to 199.5955, the term \"residence state\" means the\nstate of which the child is a reside nt by virtue of the residence of the adoptive\nparents.","path":["KRS Chapter 199"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=7199","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:54Z","sha256":"616c37d267e8a1af31f08372c421506a7e72f2a27a1e38af322d7fc1963d69a5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-199.595","next":"us-ky/krs-199.5952"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
