{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-199.660","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 199.660","heading":"Authorized activities of child -placing agencies -- Registry of closed foster","body":"family homes -- Restrictions on approvals of or placements in foster family\nhomes -- Collaboration to promote educational stability.\n(1) A licensed child -placing age ncy may place children in any licensed child -caring\nfacility, including institutions and group homes, or in foster family homes under its\ndirect supervision, in a facility certified by an appropriate agency as operated\nprimarily for educational or medical purposes, or may place children for adoption if\nspecifically authorized by its license to do so. The child -placing agency shall\nprovide careful supervision of all children under its care and of children placed by it\nin child -caring facilities or foster fam ily homes, and its agents shall visit such\nfacilities or foster family homes as often as may be necessary to promote the welfare\nof the children.\n(2) (a) A licensed child -placing agency shall notify the department within fourteen\n(14) calendar days of the closure of a foster family home under its supervision\nfor any reason, and shall state the reason for the closure.\n(b) The department shall maintain a foster family home registry where this\nclosure information, and closure information for all foster family homes\nclosed by the cabinet, are stored.\n(c) 1. A licensed child-placing agency shall not approve a foster family home,\nand shall not place a child into any foster family home, until the child -\nplacing agency first requests information from the department t o\ndetermine if the prospective foster family home is listed in the registry,\nif the foster family home has ever been closed, and the reason for\nclosure.\n2. A licensed child-placing agency shall not approve a foster family home,\nand shall not place a child into a foster family home, which has been\nclosed for cause by any other licensed child -placing agency or by the\ncabinet unless the foster family home has been successfully and\ncontinually operating as a cabinet foster family home for one (1) year\nafter it was closed for cause by a licensed child-placing agency.\n3. A licensed child-placing agency shall not approve a foster family home,\nand shall not place a child into a foster family home, which is under\ncorrective action by any other licensed child -placing agency or by the\ncabinet at time of the closure unless:\na. The foster family home provides all information on the corrective\naction to the licensed child-placing agency;\nb. The licensed child-placing agency fully addresses the foster family\nhome's correcti ve action in the foster family's home study\nnarrative; and\nc. The department reviews and approves the foster family's home\nstudy.\n(3) Licensed child -caring facilities and child -placing agencies shall collaborate with\nlocal school districts to promote educational stability for children under their care in\naccordance with KRS 199.802, and shall work to ensure that foster family homes\nunder a child -placing agency's supervision understand and actively support the\neducational needs of the children placed in their care through training, support, and\nsupervision of the home by the child-placing agency.","path":["KRS Chapter 199"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50241","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:54Z","sha256":"4aed9efcb1110fea2d469d3687a3a77ea7613ac47ceb43f11b1ecc255e9a1ba3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-199.650","next":"us-ky/krs-199.665"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
