{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-199.894","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 199.894","heading":"Definitions for KRS 199.892 to 199.896.","body":"As used in KRS 199.892 to 199.896, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Cabinet\" means the Cabinet for Health and Family Services;\n(2) \"Secretary\" means secretary for health and family services;\n(3) \"Child-care center\" means any child-care center that provides full- or part-time care,\nday or night, to four (4) or more children in a nonresidential setting who are not the\nchildren, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or children in legal custody of the\noperator. \"Child-care center\" shall not include any ch ild-care facility operated by a\nreligious organization while religious services are being conducted, or a youth\ndevelopment agency. For the purposes of this section, \"youth development agency\"\nmeans a program with tax -exempt status under 26 U.S.C. sec. 501 (c)(3), which\noperates continuously throughout the year as an outside -school-hours center for\nyouth who are six (6) years of age or older, and for which there are no fee or\nscheduled-care arrangements with the parent or guardian of the youth served;\n(4) \"Department\" means the Department for Community Based Services; and\n(5) \"Family child-care home\" means a private home that is the primary residence of an\nindividual who provides full or part -time care day or night for six (6) or fewer\nchildren who are not th e children, siblings, stepchildren, grandchildren, nieces,\nnephews, or children in legal custody of the provider.","path":["KRS Chapter 199"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50014","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:55Z","sha256":"c69f67be7301d11e59b79bed38b6d481f028d95e4cc5c23ec06364615685dfe2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-199.892","next":"us-ky/krs-199.8941"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
