{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-199.900","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 199.900","heading":"Training programs authorized -- Research assignment -- Classification --","body":"Compensation -- Contract.\n(1) The secretary for health and family services in coordination with the Personnel\nCabinet is authorized to establish formal training programs within t he Cabinet for\nHealth and Family Services or within any of the divisions or sections of the cabinet\nfor the training of necessary personnel for the administration of the programs of the\ncabinet. When courses of study, applicable to the program processes of  the cabinet,\nare not available through cabinet instruction, arrangements may be made for the\ntraining of employees in any public or private school or institution having available\nfacilities for that purpose, and such training shall be deemed to be a part of the\ncabinet training program. Training of employees in public or private schools or\ninstitutions for this purpose shall be deemed a part of research assignments to be\ncompleted during the period of study, and these assignments are to relate directly to\nthe work assignment of the employee. After consulting with the Personnel Cabinet,\nposition classifications in the research series shall be established for employees on\nsuch work study assignments, and funds of the cabinet may be used to pay salaries\ncommensurate with the appropriate classification while the employee is receiving\ntraining.\n(2) Any employee who is paid a salary while receiving such training shall be required to\nenter into a contract, prior to receiving the training, that he will complete a specified\nwork assignment, and that unless he continues in the employ of the cabinet for at\nleast a period equivalent to the training period, immediately following the\ncompletion of training, the state will hold a claim against him for the amount of\nsalary paid during the training period, and he will repay to the cabinet the sum paid\nto him by the cabinet during the period of his training.","path":["KRS Chapter 199"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=7250","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:55Z","sha256":"94b6a970858322636cf3766e017ffe2788ca5a5f90f738c03995fdb92582c922","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-199.8998","next":"us-ky/krs-199.990"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
