At\nthe time of organization and annually thereafter, the board shall elect a chairman\nfrom its members.\n(2) The board may select a superintendent for the home, and may fix his co mpensation\nin cash, or in cash and maintenance for himself and his immediate family. The\nsuperintendent shall serve at the pleasure of the board.\n(3) The board may authorize the employment of other officers and employees necessary\nto carry on the work of t he board and the home, and shall fix their compensation at\nsums not exceeding the salary of the superintendent.
