{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-202a.031","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 202A.031","heading":"Emergency admission.","body":"(1) An authorized staff physician may order the admission of any person who is present\nat, or is presented at, a hospital. For the purposes of this subsection only, a hospital\nmay include any acute care hospital that is licensed by the Commonwealth. Within\ntwenty-four (24) hours (excluding weekends and holidays) of the admission under\nthis section, the authorized staff physician ordering the admission of the individual\nshall certify in the record of the individual that in his opinion the individual should\nbe involuntarily hospitalized.\n(2) Any individual who has been admitted to a hospital under subsection (1) of this\nsection shall be released from the hospital within seventy-two (72) hours (excluding\nweekends and holidays) unless further detained under the appl icable provisions of\nthis chapter.","path":["KRS Chapter 202A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=7446","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:58Z","sha256":"77e3f51921088670d4e8720bae14627ed34b61c039fa2dc84cbe462bff05a749","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-202a.030","next":"us-ky/krs-202a.040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
