{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-202a.0813","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 202A.0813","heading":"Transportation and examination of petition respondent.","body":"(1) The court may order that the sheriff of the county or a peace officer transport\nthe respondent to a hospital or site designated by the cabinet so that the\nrespondent shall be examined without unnecessary delay by a qualified mental\nhealth professional. The  sheriff or peace  officer may  authorize, upon\nagreement of a person authorized by the peace officer, the cabinet, a private\nagency on contract with the cabinet, or an ambulance service designated by\nthe cabinet to transport the person to a hospital or site designated by the\ncabinet.\n(2) (a) When  the court is authorized to issue an order that the respondent be\ntransported to a  hospital or site designated by  the cabinet for\nexamination, the court may issue a summons.\n(b) A  summons  so issued shall be directed to the respondent and shall\ncommand  the respondent to appear at a time and place specified in the\nsummons,  where the respondent shall be examined by a qualified mental\nhealth professional.\n(c) If a respondent who  has been  summoned  fails to appear for the\nexamination, the court may order that the sheriff of the county or a peace\nofficer transport the respondent to a hospital or site designated by the\ncabinet for the purpose of an examination.","path":["KRS Chapter 202A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46748","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:59Z","sha256":"cab2b2124b4209be59c471ed6f974caa95c313ba8cc9d0c20e6f4609d8b27d41","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-202a.0811","next":"us-ky/krs-202a.0815"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
