{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-202a.121","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 202A.121","heading":"Right to counsel -- Fee -- Attorney's right to access court records.","body":"(1) Upon the appearance of the person detained pursuant to KRS 202A.041 or upon the\nfiling of a petition pursuant to KRS 202A.051 or 202A.0811, the court shall appoint\nan attorney to represent the respondent. The attorney shall be paid a fee fixed by the\ncourt not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500), which shall be paid by the Finance\nand Administration Cabinet.\n(2) The appointment and representation under subsection (1) o f this section shall\ncontinue unless the respondent retains private counsel.\n(3) The appointed attorney shall be immediately notified by the clerk of the allegations\nin the petition and the date and purpose of the preliminary hearing.\n(4) Notwithstanding KRS 202A.091, an attorney appointed by the court or retained by\nthe respondent shall be given access to the court records relating to the petition.","path":["KRS Chapter 202A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57834","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:59Z","sha256":"1153df283304d60bed7a025176c13583b1c8943e17e9e748ad1eb6cfef735139","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-202a.120","next":"us-ky/krs-202a.130"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
