{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-205.201","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 205.201","heading":"Duties of cabinet as to the aging and the minority elderly.","body":"The duties of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall be to:\n(1) Promote and aid in the establishment of local programs and services for the aging;\n(2) Conduct programs to educate the public as to problems of the aging;\n(3) Review existing state p rograms and services for the aging and to make\nrecommendations to the Governor, to the appropriate department and agencies of\nthe state, and to the legislature for improvements in and additions to such programs\nand services;\n(4) Assist and encourage govern mental and private agencies to coordinate their efforts\non behalf of the aging;\n(5) Conduct and encourage other organizations to conduct studies concerning the aging;\n(6) Establish, in selected areas and communities of the state, programs of services for\nthe aging to demonstrate the value of such programs, and to encourage local\nagencies to continue the programs and to create new services where needed.\nEmphasis shall be given to services designed to foster continued participation of\nolder people in family a nd community life and to lessen the need for institutional\ncare;\n(7) Provide services designed to meet the needs of the minority elderly in programs\nadministered by the cabinet;\n(8) The cabinet shall solicit and consider the input of individuals and organi zations\nrepresenting the concerns of the minority elderly population as relates to:\n(a) Programs and services needed by the minority elderly;\n(b) The extent to which existing programs do not meet the needs of the minority\nelderly;\n(c) The accessibility of existing programs to the minority elderly;\n(d) The availability and adequacy of information regarding existing services;\n(e) Health problems the minority elderly experience at a higher rate than the\nnonminority elderly population; and\n(f) Financial, social, and other barriers experienced by the minority elderly in\nobtaining services;\n(9) Conduct an outreach program that provides information to minority elderly\nKentuckians about health and social problems experienced by minority elderly\npersons and available programs to address those problems; and\n(10) Cooperate with the federal government and with the governments of other states in\nprograms relating to the aging.","path":["KRS Chapter 205"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50018","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:02Z","sha256":"891c9af8f9adac44b4a89454b669c2858b1554b4ae5bc8461f63071baa3ecf38","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-205.2005","next":"us-ky/krs-205.202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
