{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-205.455","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 205.455","heading":"Definitions for KRS  205.460.","body":"As used in KRS 205.460:\n(1) \"Chore  services\" means  the performance of heavy housecleaning, minor\nhousehold repairs, yard tasks, and other activities needed to assist in the\nmaintenance of a functionally impaired elderly person in his own home.\n(2) \"Core  services\" means  those services, including but not limited to client\nassessment and case management  services, designed to identify a functionally\nimpaired elderly person's needs, develop a plan of care, arrange for services,\nmonitor the provision of services, and reassess the person's needs on a\nregular basis.\n(3) \"Cabinet\" means the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.\n(4) \"District\" means  an area development district designated pursuant to KRS\n147A.050.\n(5) \"Escort services\" means  the accompaniment of a person who requires such\nassistance for reasons of safety or protection to or from his physician, dentist,\nor other necessary services.\n(6) \"Essential services\" means those services which are most needed to prevent\nunnecessary  institutionalization of functionally impaired elderly persons.\nEssential services shall include chore services, home-delivered meals,\nhome-health aide services, homemaker  services, respite services, escort\nservices, and home repair services.\n(7) \"Functionally impaired elderly person\" means  any person, sixty (60) years of\nage or older, with physical or mental limitations which restrict individual ability\nto perform the normal activities of daily living and which impede individual\ncapacity to live independently, thus rendering such person at risk of entering an\ninstitution. Functional impairment shall be determined through a functional\nassessment  developed by the cabinet and delivered to each applicant for\nessential services.\n(8) \"Home-delivered meals\" means the provision of a nutritionally sound meal, that\nmeets  at least one-third (1/3) of the current daily recommended  dietary\nallowance, to a functionally impaired elderly person who  is homebound  by\nreason of illness, incapacity, or disability.\n(9) \"Home-health aide services\" means  the performance of simple procedures,\nincluding but not limited to personal care, ambulation, exercises, household\nservices essential to health care at home, assistance with medications that are\nordinarily self-administered, reporting changes in the patient's condition and\nneeds, and completing appropriate records.\n(10) \"Homemaker  services\" means  general household activities, including but not\nlimited to nonmedical personal care, shopping, meal preparation, and routine\nhousehold care, provided by a trained homemaker  when the person regularly\nresponsible for these activities is temporarily absent or unable to manage  the\nhome  and care for himself or others in the home.\n(11) \"Home  repair services\" means  the provision of minor home  adaptations,\nadditions, or modifications to enable the elderly to live independently or safely\nor to facilitate mobility including, where appropriate, emergency  summons\nsystems.\n(12) \"Respite services\" means  care provided by an approved caregiver or agency\nfor a designated time period because of absence or need for relief of a primary\ncaregiver.","path":["KRS Chapter 205"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46320","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:02Z","sha256":"f23fea108fffc3d9423d97dc06ca34d0856e54ae5782214b78c7b45a80ff0688","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-205.450","next":"us-ky/krs-205.460"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
