{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-205.470","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 205.470","heading":"Centralized resource and referral center for aging caregivers of","body":"individuals with an intellectual disability or other developmental disability.\n(1) As used in this section, \"aging caregiver\" means an individual age sixty (60) or\nolder who pro vides care for an individual with an intellectual disability or other\ndevelopmental disability.\n(2) If state, federal, or other funds are available, the Kentucky Department for\nBehavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities shall, in cooper ation\nwith the Department for Aging and Independent Living and the Department for\nMedicaid Services, establish a centralized resource and referral center designed as a\none-stop, seamless system to provide aging caregivers with information and\nassistance with choices and planning for long -term supports for individuals with an\nintellectual disability or developmental disability.\n(3) The center created in subsection (2) of this section shall provide but not be limited\nto the following services:\n(a) Comprehensive information on available programs and services, including but\nnot limited to:\n1. Residential services;\n2. Employment training;\n3. Supported employment;\n4. Behavioral support;\n5. Respite services;\n6. Adult day health or adult day social services;\n7. Support coordination;\n8. Home or environmental modifications;\n9. Community living services, including an attendant, and assistance with\nhomemaking, shopping, and personal care;\n10. Support groups in the community;\n11. Psychiatric services;\n12. Consumer-directed options;\n13. Attorneys or legal services to assist with will preparation; and\n14. The impact of inheritance on government benefits and options, including\nestablishing a special needs trust;\n(b) Printed material and Internet-based information related to:\n1. Options for future planning;\n2. Financial and estate planning;\n3. Wills and trusts; and\n4. Advance directives and funeral and burial arrangements; and\n(c) Referral to community resources.\n(4) The center created in subsection (2) of this section shall operate a toll -free number\nat least during regular business hours and shall publish information required in\nsubsection (3)(a) of this section and a description of services provided by the center\non a cabinet website.\n(5) The center created in subsection (2) of this section shall make the information listed\nin subsection (3) of this section available to the support broker and any\nrepresentative of an individual who is participating in a Medicaid consumer -\ndirected option.\n(6) The center shall use electronic information technology to track services provided\nand to follow -up with individuals served and provide additional information or\nreferrals as needed.\n(7) The department may contract with a private entity t o provide the services required\nunder subsections (2) and (3) of this section.\n(8) The cabinet may provide services identified in subsection (3) of this section to\nindividuals of any age who are caregivers of individuals with an intellectual\ndisability or developmental disability.\n(9) Prior to January 1, 2008, the department shall submit a report that includes but is\nnot limited to the following information:\n(a) The number of individuals who contacted the center;\n(b) A description of the categories of quest ions asked by individuals calling the\ncenter; and\n(c) A summary of the services provided, including the community resources to\nwhich individuals were referred.","path":["KRS Chapter 205"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53684","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:02Z","sha256":"8584d8b7c1a70a485cb8441d921270bbaa8554a18515b25da224a8de82a14b84","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-205.465","next":"us-ky/krs-205.510"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
