{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-205.566","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 205.566","heading":"Electronic medical record database.","body":"(1) (a) To the extent allowable by federal law, any Medicaid-participating health care\nprovider who provides services to any medical assistance recipient may, at the\ndiscretion of the health care provider, maintain in an electronic medical record\ndatabase the medi cal record for each medical assistance recipient receiving\nservices by the health care provider.\n(b) An electronic signature shall be accepted for any medical record maintained\nunder paragraph (a) of this subsection.\n(2) Any electronic medical record datab ase maintained under subsection (1) of this\nsection shall be capable of printing a complete written medical record of each\nmedical assistance recipient.\n(3) Any provider who maintains an electronic medical record database under subsection\n(1) of this section shall:\n(a) Notify the department of the existence of the electronic medical record\ndatabase;\n(b) Certify that the electronic medical record database will be confidential and\nthat patient privacy will be protected;\n(c) Institute best practices to prevent access to the medical record database by any\nperson who would not otherwise be authorized to review or obtain a written\nversion of the medical records; and\n(d) Institute the best practices to assure the security of the database.","path":["KRS Chapter 205"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=7726","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:03Z","sha256":"27f0f5d8f3642526bd4819db52cc779586d36961b40fff0bfb2055993e14501d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-205.565","next":"us-ky/krs-205.570"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
