{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-205.703","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 205.703","heading":"Educational and vocational programs eligible for supportive services --","body":"Prohibition against discontinuance of service to low income parents except\nunder certain circumstances.\n(1) The cabinet shall honor parents' requests to volunteer for basic, secon dary, post-\nsecondary, and vocational education programs, including work study and\ninternships; where:\n(a) The activity is:\n1. Countable toward federal work participation rates; or\n2. Combined with work activity countable toward federal work\nparticipation rates;\n(b) The activity is made part of a self -sufficiency plan in which it will lead to\nachievement of a specific employment goal;\n(c) The parent meets admission criteria for the educational program; and\n(d) The parent does not already have marketable skil ls sufficient to achieve at\nleast  two hundred percent (200%) of the federal poverty threshold, adjusted\nby household size.\n(2) The cabinet shall honor parents' requests to continue current educational activities\nas defined under subsection (1) of this section, where the parent is making good and\nsatisfactory progress based on standards normally applied by the educational or\nvocational programs to enrollees.\n(3) The cabinet shall inform all parents receiving public assistance of the option to\nengage in educational and vocational training activities, as defined under subsection\n(1) of this section, and receive supportive services:\n(a) At least once per year, no less than six (6) weeks prior to the start of fall\nsemester of the state university and community college system;\n(b) During the initial and any subsequent self-sufficiency planning process;\n(c) During conciliation in which the parent requests a change in placement; and\n(d) At any time upon request of the parent.\n(4) The cabinet shall not require a parent who is currently participating in an education\nprogram to discontinue participation and shall not discontinue supportive services\nfor education under subsection (1) of this section, except where:\n(a) The parent is no longer making good or satisfactory progress;\n(b) The parent fails to verify satisfactory attendance under standards normally\napplied by the educational program to enrollees;\n(c) The parent in a noncountable education activity fails to participate in the\nadditional required countable activity;\n(d) The parent refuses an offer of employment paying at least two -hundred\npercent (200%) of the federal poverty threshold, adjusted for household size;\nor\n(e) The parent becomes ineligible for public assistance for rea sons unrelated to\neducational activity.","path":["KRS Chapter 205"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=7799","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:05Z","sha256":"f2fb19985b8596d92118bc9b58a5b9e6f29acd841682a0cea609ff7d06b985ad","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-205.702","next":"us-ky/krs-205.704"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
