{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-209.005","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 209.005","heading":"Elder Abuse Committee -- Membership -- Duties -- Annual report.","body":"(1) The Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall create an Elder Abuse Committee\nto develop a model protocol on elder abuse and neglect in the Commonwealth, that\nshall be comprised of various agency representatives that include but are not limited\nto:\n(a) The Department for Community Based Services;\n(b) The Department for Public Health;\n(c) The Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual\nDisabilities;\n(d) The Department for Aging and Independent Living;\n(e) The Office of Inspector General's Division of Health Care;\n(f) The Commonwealth Office of the Ombudsman;\n(g) Area Agencies on Aging;\n(h) Local and state law enforcement official; and\n(i) Prosecutors.\n(2) The committee shall address issues of prevention, interv ention, investigation, and\nagency coordination of services on a state and local level through interaction with\nlocal groups or entities that either directly or indirectly provide services to the elder\npopulation, including but not limited to:\n(a) Senior citizen centers;\n(b) Local governmental human service groups;\n(c) The Sanders-Brown Center on Aging at the University of Kentucky;\n(d) Long-Term Care Ombudsmen; and\n(e) Other organizations or associations dedicated to serving elder citizens and\ntheir families in the Commonwealth.\n(3) The committee shall:\n(a) Recommend a model protocol for the joint multidisciplinary investigation of\nreports of suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of the elderly;\n(b) Recommend practices to assure timely reporting of referrals of abuse, neglect,\nor exploitation required under KRS 209.030(12);\n(c) Explore the need for a comprehensive statewide resource directory of services\nfor the elderly;\n(d) Enhance existing public awareness campaigns for elder abuse and neglect;\nand\n(e) Provide forums for the exchange of information to educate the elder\npopulation and their families on the rights of elders.\n(4) The committee shall produce an annual report of their activities, products, and\nrecommendations for public policy to the Governor  and the Legislative Research\nCommission.","path":["KRS Chapter 209"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54258","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:09Z","sha256":"a403fdbb70d614df391f6e88c636fad590baf82fb9a38fe8e4561221e11329e7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-208g.190","next":"us-ky/krs-209.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
