{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-210.051","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 210.051","heading":"Kentucky Eating Disorder Council -- Membership -- Duties -- Grant","body":"applications -- Reports -- Sunset of council in 2030 unless reestablished.\n(1) The Kentucky Eating Disorder Council is hereby established in the Cabinet for\nHealth and Family S ervices and shall be attached to the cabinet for administrative\npurposes.\n(2) The following members shall be appointed to the council:\n(a) The secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services or his or her\ndesignee;\n(b) The commissioner of the Depar tment for Medicaid Services or his or her\ndesignee;\n(c) The commissioner of the Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental\nand Intellectual Disabilities or his or her designee;\n(d) The commissioner of the Department for Public Health or his or her designee;\n(e) The commissioner of the Department of Insurance or his or her designee;\n(f) The commissioner of the Department of Education or his or her designee;\n(g) The president of the Council on Postsecondary Education or his or her\ndesignee;\n(h) One (1) representative to be appointed by the Governor from a list of three (3)\nindividuals submitted by the Kentucky Hospital Association;\n(i) One (1) psychologist who works with individuals who have eating disorders\nto be appointed by the Governor from a list of three (3) individuals provided\nby the Kentucky Psychological Association;\n(j) One (1) pediatrician who works with individuals who have eating disorders to\nbe appointed by the Governor from a list of three (3) individuals provided by\nthe Kentucky Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics;\n(k) One (1) psychiatrist who works with individuals who have eating disorders to\nbe appointed by the Governor from a list of three (3) individuals provided by\nthe Kentucky Psychiatric Medical Association;\n(l) One (1) licensed clinical social worker who works with individuals who have\neating disorders to be appointed by the Governor from a list of three (3)\nindividuals provided by the Kentucky Chapter of the National Association of\nSocial Workers;\n(m) One (1) psychiatric nurse practitioner who works with individuals who have\neating disorders to be appointed by the Governor from a list of three (3)\nindividuals provided by the Kentucky Association of Nurse Practitioners and\nNurse-Midwives;\n(n) One (1) reg istered and licensed dietician who works with individuals who\nhave eating disorders to be appointed by the Governor from a list of three (3)\nindividuals provided by the Kentucky Dietetics Association;\n(o) One (1) eating disorder researcher to be appointed by the Governor from a list\nof three (3) individuals provided by the Kentucky Psychological Association;\n(p) One (1) public health policy researcher to be appointed by the Governor from\na list of three (3) individuals provided by the Kentucky Public Health\nAssociation; and\n(q) Three (3) individuals who have an eating disorder or who have experience\nwith individuals who have eating disorders to be appointed by the Governor\nfrom a list of five (5) individuals provided by the Louisville Center for Eating\nDisorders until a statewide consumer and family advocacy organization is\nestablished.\n(3) The members of the council shall elect a chair and vice chair to serve one (1) year.\n(4) The council shall meet at least quarterly or upon the call of the chair.\n(5) After the initial appointments, members of the council shall serve terms of two (2)\nyears, beginning the day of appointment. Members of the council shall be eligible to\nsucceed themselves and shall serve until their successors are appointed.\n(6) Members of the council shall serve without compensation but shall be reimbursed\nfor reasonable and necessary expenses in accordance with state travel expenses and\nreimbursement administrative regulations.\n(7) The council shall:\n(a) Oversee the development and implementat ion of eating disorder awareness,\neducation, and prevention programs;\n(b) Identify strategies for improving access to adequate diagnosis and treatment\nservices;\n(c) Assist the cabinet in identifying eating disorder research projects;\n(d) Work with the Cabi net for Health and Family Services and other appropriate\nentities to routinely examine existing surveillance systems, data collection\nsystems, and administrative databases to determine the best strategies for\nimplementing evidence-based eating disorder mea sures that provide data for\nprogram and policy planning purposes;\n(e) As reasonably as possible, collaborate and coordinate on data research\nprojects with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and other\nappropriate entities; and\n(f) Make recommendatio ns regarding legislative and regulatory changes as\nappropriate.\n(8) The council shall apply for grants from the federal government, private foundations,\nor other sources that may be available for programs related to eating disorders.\n(9) The council shall report annually beginning December 1, 2020, on its activities,\nfindings, and recommendations to the Governor and the Legislative Research\nCommission.\n(10) The Kentucky Eating Disorder Council shall cease to exist on December 1, 2030,\nunless otherwise reestablished by the General Assembly.","path":["KRS Chapter 210"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50207","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:10Z","sha256":"874acb1d81f907cf2c817a1230341234cd2fbb2d67cd850e24f91e9839d09415","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-210.050","next":"us-ky/krs-210.052"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
