{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-210.140","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 210.140","heading":"Transfer of patient or inmate to institution operated by different cabinet.","body":"(1) Pursuant to agreement entered into by the heads of the cabinets concerned, a patient\nor inmate of a state institution operated by one (1) state cabinet may be transferre d\nto a state institution operated by another state cabinet, except that:\n(a) An inmate may be transferred from a penal or correctional institution as\nprovided in KRS Chapter 202A or in any regulation promulgated under such\nchapter, provided that no transfe r shall be made to a correctional facility\nlocated on the grounds of a state mental hospital;\n(b) No patient or inmate may be transferred to a penal or correctional institution\nunless he has been committed to such institution by judgment of a court; and\n(c) No patient or inmate may be transferred to an institution for the mentally ill or\nindividuals with an intellectual disability, except for a period of observation\nnot to exceed sixty (60) days, unless he has been hospitalized in accordance\nwith KRS 202A.051.\n(2) When a patient or inmate hospitalized by court order to one (1) institution is\ntransferred to another institution pursuant to this section, the order of hospitalization\nshall be deemed to apply to the institution to which transferred.","path":["KRS Chapter 210"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=40800","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:10Z","sha256":"60f9bc5437e620ed1f3b2412dd9f19bfdac0489b22dce42985bc39091f5a6a99","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-210.130","next":"us-ky/krs-210.150"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
