{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-211.160","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 211.160","heading":"Powers of secretary of the cabinet in providing service to handicapped","body":"persons.\n(1) The secretary for health and family services may, from the funds available, employ,\nby contract or otherwise such medical, clinical, technical, and other personnel tha t\nhe deems necessary to effectuate the purposes of KRS 211.130 to 211.160, and fix\nand pay their compensation and necessary traveling expenses.\n(2) The secretary for health and family services may, from the funds available, procure,\nby purchase or lease or otherwise, such property, equipment, services, facilities, and\nsupplies that he deems necessary to effectuate the purposes of KRS 211.130 to\n211.160.\n(3) The secretary for health and family services is authorized to accept, on behalf of the\nCommonwealth o f Kentucky, all gifts, donations, contributions, grants, devises,\nbequests, and conveyances of real and personal property for establishing, providing,\nand maintaining the services and facilities described in KRS 211.150, subject only\nto the condition that same shall be devoted to and used for said purposes. All funds\nreceived by the secretary for health and family services shall be deposited in the\nState Treasury and credited to a trust and agency fund account and expended only\nfor purposes authorized by KRS 211.130 to 211.160.\n(4) The secretary for health and family services may make and issue all necessary rules\nand regulations to carry out KRS 211.130 to 211.160; provided, however, that no\neducable person shall be eligible for any benefits hereunder unles s he is, and has\nbeen continuously for at least twelve (12) months immediately preceding the date of\nhis application therefor, an actual resident of this state.\n(5) The secretary for health and family services may delegate to any division of the\ncabinet, or to any director thereof, any and all of his authority and duties hereunder.\n(6) Upon request of the secretary for health and family services, approved in writing by\nthe Governor, any cabinet, agency, or commission of the Commonwealth shall\nfurnish withou t cost to the cabinet such services, facilities, and assistance as are\navailable and, in the judgment of the secretary for health and family services and the\nGovernor, required, to effectuate the purposes of KRS 211.130 to 211.160 or its\nadministration which is hereby vested in the cabinet.","path":["KRS Chapter 211"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=8353","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:12Z","sha256":"92974cb52b738d50d3942da8dfab4d1d664bf47a67ed0825a4bc370c6b44419e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-211.150","next":"us-ky/krs-211.165"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
