{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-211.205","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 211.205","heading":"Splash pads operated by local governments -- Cabinet for Health and","body":"Family Services to promulgate administrative regulations.\n(1) For the purposes of this section, \"splash pad\" means an artificially constructed\npublic recreation area for water play over which water is sprayed but is not allowed\nto pool.\n(2) The Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall promulgate administrative\nregulations pursuant to KRS 211.180 and KRS Chapter 13A to set out standards for\nthe operation and maintenance of splash pads operated by local governments to\nensure they are maintained in a safe, sanitary manner to protect public health and to\ndistinguish the operation and maintenance of splash pads from the operation and\nmaintenance of swimming pools. The administra tive regulations shall include but\nnot be limited to the following:\n(a) Requiring that water in splash pads, if recirculated, be chemically treated and\nproperly filtered and monitored; and\n(b) Not requiring the following equipment to be provided:\n1. Flow meters, if the water in the splash pad is not recirculated;\n2. Ring buoys;\n3. Life poles;\n4. Shepherd's crooks;\n5. Backboards;\n6. Telephones;\n7. Bathhouses;\n8. Restrooms;\n9. Drinking fountains;\n10. First-aid kits;\n11. Lifeguards;\n12. On-site attendants; and\n13.
