{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-211.296","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 211.296","heading":"Palliative Care Interdisciplinary Advisory Council.","body":"(1) The Palliative Care Interdisciplinary Advisory Council is hereby established to\nimprove the quality and delivery of patient- and family-centered care throughout the\nCommonwealth and to advise the cabinet on matters related to the establishment,\nmaintenance, operation, and outcomes evaluation of palliative care initiatives. The\ncouncil shall be attached to and administered by the cabinet.\n(2) The Governor shall appoint the members of the council to serve three (3) year\nterms. The council shall consist of thi rteen (13) voting members, and may include\nnonvoting members who are relevant cabinet representatives designated by the\nGovernor. Voting members shall be:\n(a) Two (2) members from interdisciplinary medical, nursing, social work,\npharmacy, and spiritual pro fessions with palliative care work experience or\nexpertise;\n(b) Two (2) members who are either licensed or certified hospice and palliative\nmedicine physicians licensed pursuant to KRS Chapter 311 or licensed or\ncertified hospice and palliative care advanc ed practice registered nurses\nlicensed pursuant to KRS Chapter 314;\n(c) One (1) member who has pediatric palliative care expertise;\n(d) One (1) member who is a patient or family caregiver advocate;\n(e) One (1) member recommended to the Governor by the Stat ewide Independent\nLiving Council;\n(f) One (1) member recommended to the Governor by the American Cancer\nSociety;\n(g) One (1) member recommended to the Governor by the Kentucky Right to Life\nAssociation;\n(h) One (1) member recommended to the Governor by the  Long-Term Care\nOmbudsman Program;\n(i) One (1) member recommended to the Governor by the Kentucky Association\nof Hospice and Palliative Care;\n(j) One (1) member recommended to the Governor by the Kentucky\nPsychological Association; and\n(k) One (1) member r ecommended to the Governor by the Kentucky Association\nof Health Care Facilities.\n(3) Appointed members of the council shall serve without compensation, but shall be\nreimbursed for actual expenses incurred in the performance of duties in accordance\nwith KRS 45.101 and administrative regulations promulgated thereunder.\n(4) (a) Members of the council shall elect a chair and vice chair whose duties shall be\nestablished by the council.\n(b) The time and place for regularly scheduled meetings shall be established by a\nmajority vote of the council, but there shall be at least two (2) meetings per\nyear.\n(c) The chair or any three (3) voting members shall provide two (2) weeks' notice\nto the members regarding an upcoming meeting.","path":["KRS Chapter 211"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=48796","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:12Z","sha256":"619eb6f5cbebddfac9aee91999d2050b769474a3a19f669da11590a47cbe8cef","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-211.295","next":"us-ky/krs-211.297"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
