{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-211.596","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 211.596","heading":"Pediatric Cancer Research Trust Fund Board -- Membership -- Terms --","body":"Meetings.\n(1) The Pediatric Cancer Research Trust Fund Board is hereby created for the purpose\nof administering and distributing funds from the trust created under KRS 211.5 95.\nThe board shall be composed of eighteen (18) members to be appointed as follows:\n(a) A specialist in pediatric oncology nominated by Norton Children's Hospital to\nbe appointed by the Governor;\n(b) A specialist in pediatric oncology nominated by the Uni versity of Kentucky\nChildren's Hospital to be appointed by the Governor;\n(c) A representative nominated by Kentucky Chapters of the Leukemia and\nLymphoma Society to be appointed by the Governor;\n(d) A representative nominated by Kentucky offices of the Ame rican Cancer\nSociety to be appointed by the Governor;\n(e) Three (3) citizens, one (1) of whom shall be a pediatric cancer survivor, or\nparent thereof, to be appointed by the Governor;\n(f) The secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, or the secretary's\ndesignee;\n(g) The commissioner of the Department for Public Health, or the commissioner's\ndesignee;\n(h) A pediatric oncology social worker nominated by Norton Children's Hospital\nto be appointed by the Governor;\n(i) A pediatric oncology social worker nominated by the University of Kentucky\nChildren's Hospital to be appointed by the Governor;\n(j) Two (2) school interventionists nominated by each pediatric oncology\nprogram to be appointed by the Governor;\n(k) A regional coordinator nominated by th e Kentucky Cancer Registry to be\nappointed by the Governor;\n(l) A member of the University of Kentucky Dance Blue dance team or a\nsuccessor entity to be appointed by the Governor;\n(m) A member of the University of Louisville Raise RED dance team or a\nsuccessor entity to be appointed by the Governor; and\n(n) Two (2) citizens at large to be appointed by the Governor.\n(2) The board shall be attached to the Cabinet for Health and Family Services for\nadministrative purposes.\n(3) Board members shall serve without compensation, but may receive reimbursement\nfor their actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.\n(4) The term of each appointed member shall be four (4) years and until a successor is\nappointed and qualified, except that initial appointments under subsection (1)(h) to\n(n) of this section shall be as follows:\n(a) Each dance team member appointed under subsection (1)(l) or (m) of this\nsection shall serve a one (1) year term;\n(b) Two (2) of the members appointed under subsection (1)(h), (i), (j), (k), and (n)\nof this section shall serve two (2) year terms;\n(c) Two (2) of the members appointed under subsection (1)(h), (i), (j), (k), and (n)\nof this section shall serve three (3) year terms; and\n(d) Three (3) of the members appointed under subsection (1)(h), (i), (j), (k), and\n(n) of this section shall serve four (4) year terms.\n(5) A majority of the full membership of the board shall constitute a quorum.\n(6) The board shall elect, by majority vote, a president who shall preside at all meetings\nand coordinate the functions and activities of the board. The president shall be\nelected or reelected each biennium.\n(7) The board shall meet at least two (2) times annually, but may meet more frequently,\nas deemed necessary, subject to call by the president or by request of a majority of\nthe board members.","path":["KRS Chapter 211"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50024","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:13Z","sha256":"350520512ae3554b3a1b1d0c4228b7e61a5bbefbc4efb4de9d01f5468e1fc032","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-211.595","next":"us-ky/krs-211.597"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
