{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-211.981","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 211.981","heading":"Disposal of sewage and sewage sludge.","body":"(1) All sewage or sewage sludge hauled pursuant to the provisions of KRS 211.970 to\n211.982 shall be disposed of by landspreading at an approved site or in a publicly -\nowned sewage treatment plant, unless it is demonstrated to the satisfaction of the\ncabinet th at a publicly -owned sewage treatment plant does not exist within a\nreasonable hauling distance from the site at which the sewage or sewage sludge is\nreceived, or the publicly-owned sewage treatment plant refuses to accept the sewage\nor sewage sludge.\n(2) If the cabinet determines that no publicly-owned sewage treatment plant is available\nfor use by a licensed hauler, the cabinet may approve an alternative mode of\ndisposal including, but not limited to, landspreading. The cabinet shall promulgate\nadministrative regulations pursuant to KRS Chapter 13A governing landspreading\nand other acceptable modes of disposal which insure:\n(a) That no contamination threat is posed to surface waters from any run-off; and\n(b) That all reasonable protection is afforded to pre vent contamination of\ngroundwater.\n(3) Trenching of sewage and sewage sludge shall be prohibited except where\nspecifically authorized by the cabinet.","path":["KRS Chapter 211"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=8558","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:15Z","sha256":"ff108560b7eb1aa9b770df31b2033e55e1523b522759d72bb1f1e103b729fe85","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-211.980","next":"us-ky/krs-211.982"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
