{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-211.985","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 211.985","heading":"Presetting of hot water heater thermostat by manufacturer.","body":"(1) The thermostat of a new water heater offered for sale in this state for use in a\nresidential unit shall be preset by the manufacturer at a temperature no higher than\none hundred thirty degrees Fahrenheit (130 degrees F.) or fifty -four point four\ndegrees Celsius (54.4 degrees C.) or, if the water heater cannot be set that low, at\nthe minimum temperature.\n(2) Nothing in this section shall preclude the owner of an owner -occupied residential\nunit; the resident of a leased or rented residential unit; or, upon th e request of such\nowner or resident, a person licensed and acting in accordance with the requirements\nof KRS 318.010(2) and 318.010(3) from readjusting the temperature setting after\noccupancy.\n(3) Nothing in this section requires or permits any inspections  other than those\notherwise required or permitted by law.","path":["KRS Chapter 211"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=8561","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:15Z","sha256":"382ad1aaa749d0f9d75ff11676906fcc317ae5b4be7def985f001ffbee5533ae","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-211.984","next":"us-ky/krs-211.990"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
