{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-212.020","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 212.020","heading":"County health boards -- Appointment -- Membership -- Term --","body":"Compensation -- Removal of board members.\n(1) The secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall appoint, from a\nlist of nominees, three (3) qualified, licensed, and practici ng physicians; one (1)\nqualified, licensed, and practicing dentist; one (1) qualified, licensed, and practicing\nregistered nurse; one (1) licensed engineer engaged in the practice of civil or\nsanitary engineering; one (1) qualified, licensed, and practicin g optometrist; one (1)\nqualified licensed and practicing veterinarian; one (1) licensed pharmacist; and one\n(1) lay person knowledgeable in consumer affairs residing in each county who,\ntogether with the county judge/executive and one (1) person appointed by the fiscal\ncourt in each county, shall constitute a local board of health for the respective\ncounties in which they reside. The list of nominees submitted to the secretary shall\nbe accepted from any source and shall be solicited and obtained from the co unty\njudge/executive, fiscal court, and county health department staff; and nominations\nof physicians, dentists, nurses, engineers, optometrists, veterinarians, and\npharmacists shall be solicited and obtained from the county's medical society, dental\nsociety, nursing association, engineering association, optometric association,\nveterinarian association, and pharmacists' association, respectively. If a county does\nnot have three (3) qualified, licensed, and practicing physicians or one (1) qualified,\nlicensed, and practicing dentist or one (1) qualified, licensed, and practicing\nregistered nurse or one (1) qualified, licensed, and practicing civil or sanitary\nengineer or one (1) qualified, licensed, and practicing optometrist or one (1)\nqualified, licensed, a nd practicing veterinarian, or one (1) licensed pharmacist\nresiding therein, the secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services may\nappoint a resident lay person knowledgeable in consumer affairs in lieu thereof for\neach such vacancy. The members of the local board shall hold office for a term of\ntwo (2) years with physicians, dentists, pharmacists, and fiscal court appointees\nappointed in even -numbered years and nurses, engineers, optometrists,\nveterinarians, and lay appointees appointed in odd -numbered years, for terms from\nthe date of their appointment, beginning on or after January 1, 1993, and until their\nsuccessors are appointed, except the terms of the first appointment of all physician\nand fiscal court appointee terms beginning on January 1,  1993, shall expire on\nDecember 31, 1993; dentist terms beginning on August 1, 1992, shall expire on\nDecember 31, 1993; nurse, engineer, and optometrist appointments beginning on\nAugust 1, 1992, shall expire on December 31, 1994; and veterinarian and lay\nappointments beginning on October 1, 1992, shall expire on December 31, 1994.\nThe members of the board shall receive no compensation for their services.\n(2) The secretary shall remove any member, other than the county judge/executive or\nfiscal court appointee, who fails to attend three (3) consecutive scheduled meetings,\nand may remove any board member, except the county judge/executive or fiscal\ncourt appointee, as provided by KRS 65.007.
