{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-212.230","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 212.230","heading":"Powers and duties of county, city-county, and district health boards.","body":"(1) County, city-county, and district boards of health shall:\n(a) Appoint a health officer and fix his salary subject to the approval of the\nCabinet for Health and Family Services;\n(b) Hold a regular meeting at least once every three (3) months, except that\ncounty or city-county boards whose counties are members of a district health\ndepartment shall hold a regular meeting at least once every twelve (12)\nmonths, and other special or regular meetings as desired and keep full minutes\nof all the proceedings in a book provided for this purpose;\n(c) Adopt, except as otherwise provided by law, administrative regulations not in\nconflict with the administrative regulations of the Cabinet for Health and\nFamily Services necessary to protect the health of the people or to effectuate\nthe purposes of this chapter or any other law relating to public health;\n(d) Act in a general advisory capacity to the health officer on all matters relat ing\nto the local department of health;\n(e) Provide information regarding the Commonwealth Office of the Ombudsman\nto all applicants;\n(f) Hear and decide appeals from rulings, decisions, and actions of the local\nhealth department or health officer, in accor dance with KRS Chapter 13B, if\nthe aggrieved party makes written request therefor to the board within thirty\n(30) days after the ruling, decision, or action complained of. In hearing\nappeals regarding on -site wastewater permitting, the local health board s hall\nutilize the expertise of the regional on -site wastewater consultants employed\nby the Department for Public Health;\n(g) Provide all information on on -site wastewater systems to the cabinet for\nincorporation into the statewide database as provided for i n KRS 211.350(1);\nand\n(h) Perform all other functions necessary to carry out the provisions of law and\nthe regulations adopted pursuant thereto, relating to local boards of health.\n(2) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (1), all powers and authority of the local\nboard of health under existing statutes are transferred to the county department of\nhealth.","path":["KRS Chapter 212"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54259","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:15Z","sha256":"20d3d9a4bde8eba68bafde4823d51ba05bce7170d8c4b58e436750ae8deaceb4","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-212.220","next":"us-ky/krs-212.240"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
