{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-212.627","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 212.627","heading":"Urban-county department of health and board of health -- Establishment -","body":"- Jurisdiction -- Powers and duties.\nIn each county of the Commonwealth containing any city with a population of over\n100,000 at the time of merger creating an urban -county form o f government, there is\nhereby established an urban -county department of health which shall be known as the\n\"(name of city) - (name of county) Urban-County Department of Health.\" The department\nwhen established shall be governed by a board which shall be a body politic and\ncorporate, and shall be known as the \"(name of city) - (name of county) Urban -County\nBoard of Health.\" The board shall have jurisdiction throughout the county, including\nwithin all municipalities of the county with respect to and in accord ance with the\nprovisions of KRS 212.626 to 212.639. The board may, in its corporate name, sue and be\nsued, contract and be contracted with, acquire real, personal and mixed property by deed,\npurchase, gift, devise, lease or otherwise, and mortgage, pledge, sell, convey or otherwise\ndispose of same. The board may make appropriate rules and regulations and do all things\nreasonable or necessary in order to carry out the work and to properly perform the duties\nintended as required under the provisions of KRS 21 2.626 to 212.639. The title to all\nproperty acquired for purposes of KRS 212.626 to 212.639 whether real, personal and\nmixed, or whether acquired by deed, gift, purchase, devise, or otherwise, shall vest in the\nboard and shall be exempt from taxation. When  and after the board and department\nestablished under the provisions of KRS 212.626 to 212.639 are organized and except as\notherwise provided herein, the board and department shall succeed to and be vested with\nall of the functions, obligations, powers, duties and privileges now being exercised by the\ncity-county board of health and city -county department of health, and thereupon the city -\ncounty board of health and city -county department of health shall cease to exist and all\nlaws and amendments to any such  laws, relating to and governing the city -county board\nof health and city -county department of health, in conflict with the provisions of KRS\n212.626 to 212.639 shall, to the extent of such conflict, stand and be repealed.","path":["KRS Chapter 212"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=8648","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:16Z","sha256":"f42e5e11af666d4f0fae71a95242b0882fcd2de77d08399ebd0a67fe8919c684","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-212.626","next":"us-ky/krs-212.628"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
