{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-212.790","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 212.790","heading":"District director of health -- Qualifications and authority -- Compensation","body":"-- Removal procedure.\n(1) The board shall appoint a district director of health for the department as set forth in\nthis section.\n(2) The district director of health m ay be a physician, qualified as a public health\nadministrator and licensed or eligible for practice as a medical practitioner in the\nCommonwealth of Kentucky, or may be a nonphysician with a minimum of a\nmaster's degree in public health or a related field and at least five (5) years of\nexperience in a management capacity with a health department. The district director\nof health shall receive an annual salary as prescribed by the board, subject to the\nprovisions of the department's merit system, and shall se rve at the pleasure of the\nboard. If the district director of health is removed by the board, he or she shall be\nnotified in writing, and within fourteen (14) days may make a written request for a\nhearing. If no request is made, the removal shall become ef fective upon the\nexpiration of fourteen (14) days. If a request for hearing is made, the hearing shall\nbe held at the office of the department within fourteen (14) calendar days after the\nrequest is received by the board. The district director of health sh all not be removed\nuntil after a hearing has been held, and a decision rendered by the board. The board\ndecision shall be final.\n(3) The district director of health shall serve as secretary to the board of health, the\nchief administrative officer of the de partment, and may employ and fix\ncompensation of, by contract or otherwise, all employees necessary for the\nmaintenance and operation of the department in accordance with the merit system\nas established by the board.","path":["KRS Chapter 212"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54175","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:16Z","sha256":"d4cfadc0f60254b7e8419276a5a31f2a6951654c4cbed23dc32c472f11c37872","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-212.788","next":"us-ky/krs-212.792"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
