{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-213.031","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 213.031","heading":"Duties of state registrar.","body":"The state registrar, under the supervision of the commissioner of health, shall:\n(1) Administer and enforce the provisions of this chapter and the administrative\nregulations issued hereunder; issue instructions for the efficient administration of\nthe system of vital statistics; direct the system and Vital Statistics Branch and be\ncustodian of its records; supervise the activities of all persons when they are\nengaged in the operation of the system; and conduct training programs to promote\nuniformity of the system's policy and procedures throughout the Commonwealth;\n(2) With the approval of the cabinet, design, furnish, and distribute forms required by\nthis chapter and the administrative regulations issued hereunder, or prescribe other\nmeans for transmission o f data to accomplish the purpose of complete and accurate\nreporting and registration;\n(3) Assist in preparing and publishing reports of vital statistics of the Commonwealth\nand other reports as required;\n(4) Provide to local health departments copies of or  data derived from certificates and\nreports required under this chapter. The state registrar shall establish a schedule\nwith each local health department for transmittal of the copies or data. The copies\nshall remain the property of the Vital Statistics Br anch, and the uses which may be\nmade of them and the period of their retention in the county shall be governed by\nthe state registrar;\n(5) Prepare and maintain a complete continuous index of all vital records registered\nunder this chapter and provide, at not more than two (2) year intervals, a copy of the\nindex to each local registrar; and\n(6) Investigate cases of irregularity or violation of this chapter and when the cabinet\ndeems it necessary, report violations to the Commonwealth's attorney of the proper\ncounty for prosecution.","path":["KRS Chapter 213"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50026","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:16Z","sha256":"f5fecb52bfc2d3037c96f91782e58d1d70e4877e9e51ae48f08a50a2d7cb77f7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-213.030","next":"us-ky/krs-213.036"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
