{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-213.056","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 213.056","heading":"Filing of delayed birth certificate.","body":"(1) If a certificate of birth of a living person born in the Commonwealth has not been\nfiled within the time period as provided in KRS 213.046, a certificate of birth may\nbe filed in accordance with the administrative regulations of the cabinet. The\ncertificate shall be registered subject to such evidentiary requirements as the cabinet\nshall by regulation prescribe to substantiate the alleged facts of birth.\n(2) In accordance with the provisions of this section and the administrative regulations\nestablished thereunder, the state registrar may issue a record of foreign birth for a\nperson born outside the United States registration area who is subsequently adopted\nby a Kentucky resident and whose record of birth cannot be obtained from the\ncountry of birth.\n(3) Certificates of birth registered one (1) year or more after the date of birth shall be\nmade on forms prescribed and furnished by the state registrar marked \"delayed\" and\nshall show on the face of the certificate the date of the delayed registration.\n(4) A su mmary statement of the evidence submitted in support of the delayed\nregistration shall be endorsed on the certificate.\n(5) The cabinet may refuse to accept any application for a delayed birth certificate or\nrecord of foreign birth on which the applicant fa ils to provide such information as\nthe cabinet may require.\n(6) Each birth certificate filed under this section shall include all Social Security\nnumbers that have been issued to the parents of the child.","path":["KRS Chapter 213"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=48045","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:17Z","sha256":"80b10b2b2eb0f58f82d515fbb5258d6ba147b4f293666959588c0f7d7fd6ce85","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-213.055","next":"us-ky/krs-213.060"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
