{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-213.061","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 213.061","heading":"Flagged birth certificate of child reported missing.","body":"(1) Upon notification by the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet that a child born in the\nCommonwealth is missing, the state registrar of vital statistics shall flag the birth\ncertificate record of the child in such a manner that whenever a copy of the birth\ncertificate or information regarding the birth record is requested, the state registrar\nshall be alerted to the fact that the certificate is that of a missing child.\n(2) Upon notification by the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet that a missing child has\nbeen recovered, the state registrar shall remove the flag from the child's birth\ncertificate record.\n(3) In response to any inquiry for a copy of a flagged birth certificate of a missing child,\nthe state registrar shall not provide a copy of the birth certificate except as approved\nby the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet.\n(4) When a copy of a flagged birth certificate is requested in person, the state registrar\nor the designee accepting the request shall inform the person making the request\nthat a copy of a cer tificate will be mailed to the requester. The state registrar shall,\nupon the departure of the requesting person, immediately notify the Justice and\nPublic Safety Cabinet as to the request and the information obtained pursuant to this\nsubsection.\n(5) When a copy of a flagged birth certificate is requested in writing, the state registrar\nshall immediately notify the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet as to the request and\nshall provide a copy of the written request.","path":["KRS Chapter 213"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=8720","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:17Z","sha256":"94435bc583b81b0a9e2ab20a6490886f54f9a9f37faf41d01af3448ae66ca3c7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-213.060","next":"us-ky/krs-213.066"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
