{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-213.116","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 213.116","heading":"Collection of data relating to marriages, divorces, and annulments.","body":"(1) The cabinet shall perform the collection, indexing, tabulation, and registration of\ndata relating to marriages, divorces, and annulments. The secretary shall adopt\nadministrative regulations to carry out the provisions of this section.\n(2) Each county clerk shall on or before the tenth day of each month furnish to the state\nregistrar, from the marriage licenses issued and the marriage certificates returned to\nthe clerk during the previous month, the information required by the Cabinet for\nHealth and Family Services upon forms prescribed and furnished by the cabinet.\nThe county clerk shall collect from the applicants for a marriage license at the time\nthe license is issued one dollar ($1), which shall constitute the clerk's fee for\nforwarding the required information to the state registrar.\n(3) A marriage record not filed within the time prescribed by this section may be\nregistered in accordance with administrative regulations adopted by the cabinet.\n(4) In all actions for dissolution of marriage, the petition er, or the petitioner's attorney\nor legal representative, shall file, concurrently with the petition, the information\nrequested on forms prescribed and furnished by the Cabinet for Health and Family\nServices. By January 1, 2013, these forms shall be availa ble on the cabinet's Web\nsite as a downloadable document that can be completed electronically and printed.\nThe provisions of the information shall be prerequisite to the issuance of a final\ndecree in the matter by the court.\n(5) Each Circuit Court clerk sh all, within forty -five (45) days after entry of a final\njudgment of divorce, absolute or limited, or annulment of marriage, complete the\nform prescribed and furnished by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and\nforward it to the state registrar.","path":["KRS Chapter 213"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=40579","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:17Z","sha256":"50cdb91945e14b0f1d5ac431ff927183ab461830c76e3dd3123ba0a4e974d4c4","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-213.111","next":"us-ky/krs-213.120"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
