{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-213.146","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 213.146","heading":"Maintenance of records relating to vital statistics by various persons.","body":"(1) Every person in charge of an institution shall keep a record of personal data\nconcerning each person admitted or confined to the institution. This record shall\ninclude the information required for certificates of birth and death and the reports of\nfetal d eath and induced termination of pregnancy required by this chapter. The\nrecord shall be made at the time of admission from information provided by the\nperson being admitted or confined but, if it cannot be so obtained, the information\nshall be obtained fro m relatives or other persons acquainted with the facts. The\nname and address of the person providing the information shall be a part of the\nrecord.\n(2) If a dead body or dead fetus is released or disposed of by an institution, the person\nin charge of the i nstitution shall keep a record showing the name of the decedent,\ndate of death, name and address of the person to whom the body or fetus is released,\nand the date of removal from the institution. If final disposition is made by the\ninstitution, the date, p lace, and manner of disposition shall also be recorded on the\ncertificate of death or fetal death and filed in accordance with KRS 213.076 and\n213.096.\n(3) A funeral director, embalmer, sexton, or other person who removes from the place\nof death, transport s, or makes final disposition of a dead body or fetus shall, in\naddition to filing any certificate or other report required by this chapter or regulation\npromulgated hereunder, keep a record which shall identify the body and the\ninformation pertaining to the persons receipt, removal, delivery, burial, or cremation\nof the body as may be required by regulations adopted by the cabinet.\n(4) Records maintained under this section shall be retained for a period of not less than\nfive (5) years and shall be made ava ilable for inspection by the cabinet or its\ndesignee upon request.","path":["KRS Chapter 213"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=8751","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:17Z","sha256":"b9b7608556b92dddf1dffb67ebe131848b51f95f5ce5cdcffb16e5bbdf7383a5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-213.143","next":"us-ky/krs-213.150"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
