{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-214.450","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 214.450","heading":"Definitions for KRS 214.452 to 214.466.","body":"As used in KRS 214.452 to 214.466, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Blood\" means any blood, blood product, blood component, or blood derivative\nincluding plasma.\n(2) \"Blood establishment\" means a place of business under one (1) management at one\n(1) general physical location which engages in the collection, preparation,\nprocessing, labeling, packaging, and dispensing of blood to any health care facility,\nhealth service, or health care provider and which is licensed by the United States\nFood and D rug Administration. Blood establishment does not include autologous\nblood donation programs permitted under KRS 214.456.\n(3) \"Blood-borne communicable disease\" means any of those diseases which are\nspecifically so defined and set forth in administrative re gulation promulgated by the\nUnited States Food and Drug Administration.\n(4) \"Health facility\" means any health facility set forth under KRS 216B.015 which\nprovides for the transfusion of blood into a living human body.\n(5) \"Health care provider\" means any person licensed or certified under the laws of the\nCommonwealth as a dentist, physician, osteopath, registered nurse, practical nurse,\nparamedic, emergency medical technician, or physician assistant.\n(6) \"Health service\" means any health service as set for th under KRS 216B.015 and\nwhich provides for the transfusion of blood into a living human body.\n(7) \"Transfuse\" means to transfer blood from one (1) person to another.\n(8) \"Donor\" means either a paid or volunteer donor of blood.\n(9) \"Untested blood\" means blood that has not been tested or blood for which test\nresults have not yet been returned.","path":["KRS Chapter 214"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=8821","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:18Z","sha256":"2eefe0296e4436ee6b579875f4717a2044c86b246dd593f6f1f1609a15cf0bc9","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-214.430","next":"us-ky/krs-214.452"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
