{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-214.542","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 214.542","heading":"Eligibility for Colon Cancer Screening Program  -- Services provided","body":"-- Income-based  fee schedule -- Funding -- Affordability -- Data collection\n-- Administrative regulations.\n(1) The  program  shall provide colon cancer screening for uninsured and\nunderinsured individuals who are eligible based upon the current American\nCancer Society Colorectal Cancer Screening Guidelines.\n(2) Services provided under the program may be undertaken by private contract\nfor services or operated by the department. The program may  also provide\nreferral, examination, and rescreening services for the benefit of uninsured and\nunderinsured individuals for whom  further examination or treatment is indicated\nby the colon cancer screening. Colon cancer treatment and surveillance may\nbe provided to uninsured and underinsured individuals if program funding is\navailable.\n(3) The  department shall adopt a schedule of income-based fees that may  be\ncharged for colon cancer screening, examination, surveillance, treatment, and\nrescreening for uninsured and underinsured individuals. The schedule adopted\nshall be such that the screening, examination, and rescreening is affordable\nand accessible to the largest possible number of uninsured and underinsured\nindividuals throughout the Commonwealth.\n(4) The department may accept any grant or award of funds from federal or private\nsources for carrying out the provisions of this section.\n(5) The department shall establish a data collection system including the number\nof individuals screened, the demographic characteristics of the individuals\nscreened, and  the types of colon cancer screening tests, examinations,\nsurveillance, treatments, and  rescreening services performed under the\nprogram.\n(6) The  department shall promulgate administrative regulations to implement the\nprovisions of this section, including:\n(a) A schedule of income-based fees that may be charged for colon cancer\nscreening, examination, surveillance, treatment, and  rescreening as\nrequired by subsection (3) of this section; and\n(b) A data collection system as required by subsection (5) of this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 214"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=44839","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:18Z","sha256":"037318cb8403a4b14e399d63b3afeaf06c74c56bda96fd63cdbbb0b11cd61873","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-214.540","next":"us-ky/krs-214.543"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
