{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-214.564","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 214.564","heading":"Lung Cancer Screening Advisory Committee.","body":"(1) A Lung Cancer Screening Advisory Committee is hereby established. The advisory\ncommittee shall include:\n(a) One (1) member of the House of Representatives who shall be appointed by\nand serve at the pleasure of the Speaker of the House;\n(b) One (1) member o f the Senate who shall be appointed by and serve at the\npleasure of the President of the Senate;\n(c) The deputy commissioner of the Department for Public Health;\n(d) The commissioner of the Department of Insurance, or his or her designee;\n(e) The commissio ner of the Department for Medicaid Services, or his or her\ndesignee;\n(f) Two (2) at-large members who shall be appointed by the Governor;\n(g) One (1) member who shall be appointed by the Governor from a list of three\n(3) names provided by the American Cancer Society;\n(h) The director of the Kentucky Cancer Program at the University of Kentucky;\n(i) The director of the Kentucky Cancer Program at the University of Louisville;\n(j) The director of the Kentucky Cancer Registry;\n(k) The director of the American Lung Association of Kentucky;\n(l) The chair of Kentucky African Americans Against Cancer; and\n(m) The director of the Kentucky Cancer Consortium.\n(2) The chair of the advisory c ommittee shall be elected from the membership of the\nadvisory committee to serve for a two (2) year term. A member of the advisory\ncommittee may designate an alternate to attend meetings in his or her place.\n(3) The advisory committee may add members of su bject matter expertise from other\norganizations as deemed appropriate.\n(4) The advisory committee shall:\n(a) Review relevant data, clinical guidelines, and best practices for lung cancer\nscreening;\n(b) Provide recommendations for the overall implementation  and conduct of the\nprogram with the goal of improving access to high -quality lung cancer\nscreening;\n(c) Establish and provide oversight for a lung cancer screening, public awareness,\neducation, and outreach program to focus on individuals who are eligible  for\nlung cancer screening; and\n(d) Provide an annual report on implementation and outcomes from the program\nand recommendations to the Legislative Research Commission, the Interim\nJoint Committee on Health Services, the Interim Joint Committee on\nAppropriations and Revenue, the Governor, the secretary of the Cabinet for\nHealth and Family Services, and the commissioner of the Department for\nPublic Health.","path":["KRS Chapter 214"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53700","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:18Z","sha256":"14d98335d090d127c6194260a3c3a4841535359b57dfe3df6c6a4a2ba3ae340d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-214.562","next":"us-ky/krs-214.565"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
