{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-214.605","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 214.605","heading":"Public education program.","body":"(1) The Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall establish a program to educate the\npublic about the threat of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome.\n(2) The Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome Education Program shall:\n(a) Be designed to reach all segments of the Commonwealth's population;\n(b) Contain special components designed to reach minority groups within the\nstate;\n(c) Impart knowledge to the public about methods of transmission of acquired\nimmunodeficiency syndrome and methods of prevention;\n(d) Educate the public about transmission risks in social, employment, and\neducational situations;\n(e) Educate health-care workers and health facilities' employees about methods of\ntransmission and prevention in their unique workplace environments;\n(f) Contain special  components designed to reach persons who may frequently\nengage in behaviors placing them at a high risk for acquiring acquired\nimmunodeficiency syndrome;\n(g) Provide information and consultation to state agencies to educate all state\nemployees;\n(h) Provide information and consultation to state and local agencies to educate\nlaw enforcement and correctional personnel and inmates;\n(i) Provide information and consultation to local governments to educate local\ngovernment employees;\n(j) Make information availabl e to private employers and encourage them to\ndistribute this information to their employees; and\n(k) Contain special components which emphasize appropriate behavior and\nattitude change.\n(3) The program designed by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services  shall utilize\nall appropriate forms of the media and shall identify sources of educational\nmaterials that can be used by businesses, schools, and health -care providers in the\nregular course of their business.\n(4) The department may contract with other persons in the design, development, and\ndistribution of the components of the education program.","path":["KRS Chapter 214"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=8844","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:18Z","sha256":"52a2a34b4c3fe59ec37f01e9811c0dfe52badf111f865d5d56a79b2b2962ddfa","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-214.600","next":"us-ky/krs-214.610"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
