{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-214.610","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 214.610","heading":"Cabinet for Health and Family Services to approve educational courses on","body":"all aspects of HIV and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome -- Publication of\ncurrent informational resources to inform and update all health care\nprofessionals.\n(1) The Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall approve appropriate educational\ncourses on the transmission, control, treatment, and prevention of the human\nimmunodeficiency virus and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, that may\naddress appropriate behavior and attitude change.\n(2) The Department for Public Health shall publish on its Web site the current\ninformational resources for the development of the educational courses or programs.\nTo the extent possible, the educational courses or programs under this subsection\nshall:\n(a) Include changes in Kentucky law affecting HIV testing and reporting;\nconfidentiality and privacy of HIV -related data, information, and reports; and\nadvances in treatment protocols, intervention protocols, coordination of\nservices, and other inf ormation deemed important by the Department for\nPublic Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC);\n(b) Inform all professions involved with or affected by the birthing process about\nthe importance of HIV testing of pregnant women and t he probability of\npreventing perinatal transmission of HIV with appropriate treatment; and\n(c) Update all health care professionals requesting information about the potential\ninvolvement of their occupation in the treatment or prevention of blood -borne\npathogens with the latest CDC guidelines on occupational exposure to HIV\nand other blood-borne pathogens.","path":["KRS Chapter 214"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=44606","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:18Z","sha256":"9cce50a95a1dee76aba6f8191060cba050a0df0ac15cb221bd69a55e9228db10","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-214.605","next":"us-ky/krs-214.615"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
