{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-215.520","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 215.520","heading":"Duties relating to tuberculosis control.","body":"The secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall discharge all duties\nrelating to all matters of tuberculosis control, including, but not limited to, the following:\n(1) The facilitation of appropriate clinical services for either recalcitr ant or drug\nresistant persons with active tuberculosis for which failure to provide services will\nlead to further spread of disease in the Commonwealth;\n(2) The promulgation of administrative regulations pursuant to KRS Chapter 13A for\nthe purpose of carry ing out the directives of this section, KRS 215.540, 215.550,\n215.560, 215.570, 215.580, 215.590, and 215.600;\n(3) The maintenance of a central register of all known cases of tuberculosis in the\nCommonwealth, and local registers as desirable, and the colle ction, collation,\nanalysis, and publication of statistics and other information;\n(4) The facilitation of tuberculosis programs in cooperation with the Department of\nCorrections, Department of Education, and other state agencies within their\nrespective jurisdictions;\n(5) The establishment within the Cabinet for Health and Family Services of appropriate\nsocial service and financial responsibility appraisal methods to insure that\ntuberculosis patients or suspects receive all possible support from third -party\npayors, or from the Medical Assistance Program. The Cabinet for Health and\nFamily Services may contract for services for persons with tuberculosis, either\ndirectly or through local health departments, and may pay the rates it deems\nnecessary as a charge against the tuberculosis control funds of the Commonwealth;\n(6) The dissemination of educational materials to the citizens of the Commonwealth\nregarding tuberculosis and its control;\n(7) The initiation of special programs and demonstrations in cooperation wit h agencies\nof the federal government, universities, voluntary agencies, and other individuals or\ncorporations;\n(8) The provision of direct assistance to local health departments, to other agencies of\nstate government, and to other organizations to assist t hem in carrying out\neducation, prevention, and treatment programs of tuberculosis control; and\n(9) Except as otherwise provided by law, to do all other things reasonably necessary to\ncarry out the intent of this section and KRS 215.540 to 215.600.","path":["KRS Chapter 215"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=8935","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:19Z","sha256":"6c1a5bd39b57b83ab30e94017d3fc0be6eb43d892703776280a8eb4c6c928855","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-215.511","next":"us-ky/krs-215.530"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
