{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-216b.160","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 216B.160","heading":"Requirement for a care delivery model based on patient needs for","body":"licensed health care facilities and services.\nAll health care facilities and services licensed under this chapter shall include in their\npolicies and procedures a care delivery  model based on patient needs which includes but\nis not limited to:\n(1) Defined roles and responsibilities of licensed and unlicensed health care personnel;\n(2) A policy that establishes the credentialing, oversight, appointment, and\nreappointment of the r egistered nurse first assistant and for granting, renewing, and\nrevising of the registered nurse first assistant's clinical privileges;\n(3) A policy that establishes the credentialing, oversight, appointment, and\nreappointment of the physician assistant an d for granting, renewing, and revising of\nthe physician assistant's clinical privileges;\n(4) A policy that establishes the credentialing, oversight, appointment, and\nreappointment of the certified surgical assistant and for granting, renewing, and\nrevising of the certified surgical assistant's clinical privileges;\n(5) A staffing plan that specifies staffing levels of licensed and unlicensed personnel\nrequired to safely and consistently meet the performance and clinical outcomes -\nbased standards as outlined in the facility's or service's quality improvement plan;\n(6) A staffing model that is developed and implemented in an interdisciplinary and\ncollaborative manner;\n(7) A policy and method that incorporates at least four (4) components in an ongoing\nassessment done by the registered nurse, or in an assisted living community, a\nregistered nurse or the manager's designee, of the severity of the patient's disease,\npatient condition, level of impairment or disability, and the specific unit patient\ncensus to meet the needs of the individual patient in a timely manner; and\n(8) A staffing model that supports the delivery of patient care services with an\nappropriate mix of licensed health care personnel that will allow them to practice\naccording to their legal scope of practice, and for nurses, the professional standards\nof practice referenced in KRS Chapter 314, and facility and service policies.\nIf a nursing facility, intermediate care facility, or skilled care facility meets the most\ncurrent state or federal regulatio ns which address safe and consistent staffing levels of\nlicensed and unlicensed personnel, those shall suffice for compliance with the standards\nin this section.
