{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-216b.402","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 216B.402","heading":"Protocol for treatment of drug overdose -- Cannabinoid hyperemesis","body":"syndrome.\n(1) When a person is admitted to a hospital emergency department or hospital\nemergency room for treatment of a drug overdose:\n(a) The person shall be informed of av ailable substance use disorder treatment\nservices known to the hospital that are provided by that hospital, other local\nhospitals, the local community mental health center, and any other local\ntreatment programs licensed pursuant to KRS 222.231;\n(b) The hospital may obtain permission from the person when stabilized, or the\nperson's legal representative, to contact any available substance use disorder\ntreatment programs offered by that hospital, other local hospitals, the local\ncommunity mental health center , or any other local treatment programs\nlicensed pursuant to KRS 222.231, on behalf of the person to connect him or\nher to treatment; and\n(c) The local community mental health center may provide an on -call service in\nthe hospital emergency department or hospital emergency room for the person\nwho was treated for a drug overdose to provide information about services\nand connect the person to substance use disorder treatment, as funds are\navailable. These services, when provided on the grounds of a hospital, shall be\ncoordinated with appropriate hospital staff.\n(2) When a person, who is a registered qualified patient or a visiting qualified patient as\ndefined in KRS 218B.010, is admitted to a hospital emergency department or a\nhospital emergency room for treatm ent of cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, the\nhospital shall notify the cabinet within forty -eight (48) hours. Notification shall\ninclude the registered qualified patient's or a visiting qualified patient's name and\nregistry identification card number, if available.
