{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-217.177","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 217.177","heading":"Sale and disposal of hypodermic syringes or needles.","body":"(1) No person engaged in sales at retail shall display hypodermic syringes or needles in\nany portion of the place of business which is open or accessible to the public.\n(2) Pharmacies offering retail sale of hypodermic syringes or needles shall make\navailable:\n(a) Written or electronic educational materials on safe and proper disposal of\nhypodermic needles and syringes;\n(b) Written or electronic educational or referral information for syringe exchange\nservice programs and substance use disorder treatment; and\n(c) A verbal, physical, or electronic offer to provide a prescription for an opioid\nantagonist as defined in KRS 217.186.\n(3) Nothing in this section shall apply to the sale of hypodermic syringes or needles\ndispensed as a prescription or in conjunction wit h a prescription medication that\nrequires reconstitution or administration with a syringe.\n(4) Any physician, other licensed medical person, hospital, or clinic disposing of\nhypodermic syringes or needles shall render the instrument incapable of further use.","path":["KRS Chapter 217"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52962","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:25Z","sha256":"5d33c11fef24bfd8e55ace6eb2676c102b969a406bfaae0c6ea5e4d979c81b93","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-217.175","next":"us-ky/krs-217.180"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
