{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-217.217","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 217.217","heading":"No restriction on donation of game meat to or from certain entities for","body":"specified purposes -- Conditions.\n(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Cooperative extension agency\" means the University of Kentucky\nCooperative Extension Service and the K entucky State University\nCooperative Extension Program;\n(b) \"Not-for-profit organization\" means an organization duly organized and\nvalidly existing as a not -for-profit organization under the laws of the\nCommonwealth and exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of th e Internal Revenue\nCode;\n(c) \"Take\" has the same meaning as in KRS 150.010; and\n(d) \"Wildlife\" has the same meaning as in KRS 150.010.\n(2) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, no state or local government\nentity, including any local health  department, shall restrict the donation of game\nmeat to or from a not -for-profit organization, cooperative extension agency, the\nKentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, or any government agency\nfor the purposes of education, promotion of hunti ng or fishing, or free meal\ndistribution to individuals in need if the game meat came from fish or wildlife that\nwas:\n(a) Taken within the Commonwealth;\n(b) Properly field dressed and processed; and\n(c) Apparently disease-free when taken and unspoiled when processed.","path":["KRS Chapter 217"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50970","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:52:25Z","sha256":"59832752a05149e58c33b8b3d78020971bb8a703b9457fb324c339bd43c22f59","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-217.216","next":"us-ky/krs-217.218"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
